Remote Access Guide
Remote access lets 3sparks Chat connect to local servers such as LM Studio, Ollama, OpenWebUI, or AnythingLLM when those servers are not running on the mobile device.
Local network access
When your phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network, use the computer's LAN IP address in the connection base URL:
- LM Studio:
http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP:1234 - Ollama:
http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP:11434 - OpenWebUI:
http://YOUR_LOCAL_IP:8080
Do not use localhost from iPhone or iPad. On a mobile device, localhost means the mobile device itself.
Tailscale access
Tailscale creates a private network between your devices.
- Install Tailscale on the computer running your AI server.
- Install Tailscale on iPhone or iPad.
- Sign in to the same Tailscale network.
- Use the computer's Tailscale IP in your 3sparks Chat connection.
When remote access is not needed
If you use Local Models, the model runs directly in the 3sparks Chat app and no remote server is needed.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm the server is running before testing from the phone.
- Check firewall prompts on the computer.
- Make sure the server is listening on the network, not only on
127.0.0.1. - If away from home, confirm Tailscale is connected on both devices.
