Memory and Local Knowledge

Memory creates a private on-device knowledge store that can help chats recall relevant context from past conversations and documents. Memory data stays on your device unless you separately send retrieved context to a provider as part of a chat message.

Enable Memory

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Memory, Storage & Sync.
  3. Turn on Memory.
  4. Choose whether chats can use Memory.
  5. Choose whether completed chats or sent documents should be saved automatically.

What Memory can store

  • Completed conversations
  • Documents and files you choose to save
  • Manually saved memory entries when available

The app indexes content locally so relevant snippets can be found later.

Using Memory in chat

When Memory is enabled for a chat, 3sparks Chat can retrieve relevant local knowledge and include it as context. The selected AI provider sees only the context that is included in the message request.

Memory is controlled per conversation. Use Use Memory in This Chat in chat settings to turn it off for an existing chat, or start a private chat that never reads from or writes to memory at all. Each connection can also decide whether its new chats start with memory on. See Starting a Chat and Private Chats.

Managing Memory

Use Memory settings to view storage information, rebuild the index when available, or clear memory if you want to start over.

Privacy

Memory itself is on device. If you use a remote provider, retrieved memory context included in a prompt is sent to that provider. Use Local Models for private on-device generation when supported.
