MCP Integrations

MCP integrations let supported chats call external tools through configured MCP servers. In 3sparks Chat, MCP support is available for LM Studio v1 workflows that expose tool-use support.

Configure MCP tools

1. Create or edit an LM Studio v1 connection.
2. Add saved MCP server integrations on the connection.
3. Save the connection.
4. Open a chat using that connection.
5. Enable the tools you want available for that chat.

Tool visibility

Only models trained for tool use should be expected to use MCP tools reliably. LM Studio metadata can help show whether a model supports tools.

Security

Tools may access local services or external systems depending on how the MCP server is configured. Enable only tools you trust and only for chats that need them.

Troubleshooting

• Confirm the chat uses an LM Studio v1 connection.
• Confirm the selected model supports tool use.
• Confirm the MCP server is running and reachable.
• If a tool is blocked, check allowed tools and connection settings.
